South Carolina family. Samuel Wainwright (d. 1780) was a plantation owner of St. George (Dorchester) Parish, St. Paul Parish, and Charleston (S.C.). He also served as a South Carolina state legislator in the House of Representatives. He married Frances Goddard of Charleston, and their only child Samuel died in infancy. Samuel Wainwright's nephew Richard Wainwright (1754-1802) married Ann Dewar (1761-1822) in 1776 in Charleston (S.C.). Their children were: Elizabeth Sarah Wainwright (1777-1842), ...
